As part of the UKAS accreditation, OFTEC can now offer Green Deal registration for installers. The government looks set to make the Green Deal available to householders from October this year, with grants available for energy efficiency improvements. Only registered Green Deal Installers will be eligible to carry out the work, to ensure that the improvements will deliver real carbon and energy bill savings.
OFTEC took part in the Green Deal pilot scheme with UKAS and the Department for Energy and Climate Change. This enabled registered technicians to initially extend their services and cover upgrading systems to high efficiency oil-fired condensing boilers, energy saving heating controls and associated cylinder/pipework insulation. A simple inspection process will enable them to add Green Deal to their registration and generate additional business.
