At the end of January, England International and Bath Rugby player, Tom Dunn, visited Grant UK’s headquarters to host a ‘Lunch and Learn’ session with staff. Joined by Tom Giles, Head of Business Development at Bath Rugby, they held an informal question and answer session which gave members of the Grant Team the opportunity to learn more about Tom Dunn’s professional career as well as the wider community project work the club carries out in the local area. Staff were able to enjoy insight into the life of a professional rugby player and club while also enjoying a buffet lunch.
Tom Dunn’s career has seen him start with the grassroots academy at Bath Rugby Club, progress to the first team and also earn England caps at the international level of the game. During the ‘Lunch and Learn’ session, Tom explained how his career pathway was shaped and supported by Bath Rugby, supporting him through his education and developing his skills on the pitch to be the player he is today. Having been with the club for over eleven years, Tom was the ideal candidate to talk to the Grant Team about his journey with Bath Rugby.
‘Kick the Carbon’ initiative
During the session, Tom Giles also spoke to staff about the Grassroots Community Programme that Bath Rugby is delivering to local schoolchildren with the support of Grant UK who are the Official Grassroots Partner of the Club. Together, both Bath Rugby and Grant UK are visiting local primary schools to deliver its ‘Kick the Carbon’ initiative, hosting a series of classroom-based and rugby-based activities to educate children about sustainability. The first of the school visits commenced earlier in January and will be running until early Spring with ten local schools taking part in the programme.
“We were delighted to welcome Tom Dunn and Tom Giles to our offices here in Swindon,” comments Anna Wakefield, Head of Internal Sales and Marketing at Grant UK.
“We have been a sponsor of Bath Rugby since 2015 and our long-standing partnership has developed over the years with many of our employees being loyal supporters of the club. It was great to learn more about the club’s Grassroots programmes which support players, such as Tom Dunn, develop from academy players into first team professionals and also carries out excellent work in the wider local community, something Grant UK is proud to support as its Official Grassroots Partner.”
