Oil installer embraces the evolving home heating sector and a digital future

In an era where change is probably the only normal, one of the fastest changing sectors is the delivery of domestic heat and energy.

Oil installer goes (mostly) digital

The off-gas grid heating industry is one where little has changed in decades, but we now stand on the threshold of profound change as momentum builds in the renewable transformation of heating. With the essential drive to reduce carbon emissions gathering pace, government is committed to finding the best ways to decarbonise domestic and commercial heating.

The resultant move away from fossil fuels and towards renewable technologies presents a huge opportunity which we are committed to enabling both installers and suppliers to the sector to seize.

Your magazine in your choice of format

Oil Installer magazine has been a constant for the sector since its first publication in 2010 but the ways in which we communicate and share information have also changed dramatically. While some still prefer to read a physical magazine, many now consume all their information on a smart phone or tablet. We’re embracing these changes for our magazine so we can deliver to you the opportunities the evolving sector offers in the format you prefer.

From the summer issue, our community of OFTEC registered installers and specifiers can choose whether to read Oil Installer electronically, or continue to receive a print magazine, exactly as now, with OFTEC contacting all members to determine their preferred option.

Our brand-new website is now live, bringing greatly improved content delivery, clear channels, and easy navigation. It will be constantly updated with quality sector news and insights enabling us to engage with our community wherever they may be active.

Each new issue of the magazine will be shared here as a subscriber-exclusive digital edition in both a downloadable interactive pdf version and as individual articles accessible through a simple log-in.

Print format will still be available to those who prefer to continue to receive it this way.

You will need to take action to continue receiving the magazine – if you do nothing you will no longer receive a print copy.

One channel for an evolving heating sector

The second change relates to the evolving industry. With the number of home energy solutions increasing, OFTEC is expanding its registration scheme to cover this wider range of technologies. We are also creating a more inclusive publication to deliver industry news, insights, product, technical and training developments to all those involved in the domestic energy sector – whatever technology they install.

To encompass those delivering other home energy solutions and also support oil installers looking to make the move into renewables, our autumn issue will reveal a brand-new name as it amalgamates with our sister title, Renewable Energy Installer, to bring the whole installer community together.

The new combined channel will continue to fully support the needs of technicians of traditional solutions, as well as those delivering other technologies, such as heat pumps, solar and biomass.
