The system, Navien’s first monobloc air source heat pump, joins the manufacturer’s award-winning range that already includes the 20% hydrogen ready NCB ON range of combi crossover boilers, a selection of hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) ready oil-powered boilers, and the NPE water heater.
Customer-focussed solutions
Unveiled alongside Navien’s all-new H2 100% Hydrogen boiler at the recent InstallerSHOW 2023, the heat pump is the latest in a series of new developments offering homeowners alternative ways to heat their homes to deliver on the Government’s commitment to reach net zero emissions by 2050.
Navien’s heat pump uses an eco-friendly, Hydrocarbon propane refrigerant with a low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3.0, to offer a system capable of delivering hot water and higher flow temperatures of 75°C. The heat pump also has two outputs in the range 8kW or 14kW.
With its a+++ ErP rating, Navien says it is one of the most energy-efficient products to join the market.
A vital role
Jason Davies, sales director at Navien UK said: “Air source heat pumps are becoming increasingly popular and are one of the most eco-conscious solutions on the market, helping to reduce carbon emissions and energy bills in homes across the UK.
“They have a vital role in helping to provide alternative energy sources capable of keeping homes warm in the winter and hot water supplies consistent throughout the year.
Addressing the unwarranted obsession of mainstream media with the noise of heat pumps, Navien reports that it has delivered a quiet unit, producing noise pollution of up to 43 dB (A) from just one metre away – no louder than the average household refrigerator. Repeated testing and optimisation to minimise vibration has resulted in a pump that features both a suspended chassis and soundproofing materials to absorb and block out noise from compressor operation.
Maximising options for the end user the heat pump can be used alongside a boiler from Navien’s range to create a hybrid system to meet specific demands as Jason explains: “Navien’s heating and hot water applications have been designed to work together seamlessly, and assistive technologies such as Navien’s Smart Plus controller and app, give homeowners access to their heating and hot water system, at their fingertips.
