Specflue’s northern depot celebrates 1st birthday success

Specflue has celebrated the first birthday of its Castleford depot and a successful 12 months trading in the north.

Since opening its doors last August, Specflue has seen demand increase for a number of its flue and chimney products and has reported a 20% increase in sales in the areas it distributes to from its base in Gilcar Way in Castleford.

Managing director, Jeremy Fry, commented: “We opened an outlet in the north to enable us to service customers based in the Midlands, all the way up to the Scottish Border. Twelve months on and Castleford has proven to be a success, with flue and wood burning stove sales increasing, verifying that we made the right decision to invest in a new depot.”

The new depot was an important strategic step in the company’s growth and Specflue has come a long way from when it first started trading in 1992 from its outlet in Sudbury, Suffolk, with just five members of staff. Today it is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of flue, chimney and renewable heat products, with a turnover in excess of £23 million, employing over 120 members of staff.

“We chose Castleford as it is a pivotal point in the UK with excellent transport links. Our new depot cannot only be easily accessed by our customers, but also allows us – through our fleet of service vehicles – to fulfil our next day delivery service pledge,” Jeremy continued.

“Customer feedback has been extremely positive. We are covering the vast majority of northern England with our own fleet of service vehicles and plan to continue this expansion over the coming months. We are also intending to increase the growing range of stock and will be continuing to extend our cover into Scotland.”
